In this blockbuster sequel inspired by the Disney theme park attraction, director Gore Verbinski helms the continuing high-seas adventures of happy-go-lucky troublemaker Capt. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), young Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and headstrong beauty Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley). As Sparrow works his way out of a blood debt with the ghostly Davey Jones (Bill Nighy), he also attempts to avoid eternal damnation. This is Davy Jones’ crab lock and hero key used to open the dead man’s chest. The hero key was foundry made for whenever a hero version of the prop was required. This particular key was also employed as the master key for all the rubber stunt keys produced for the film. The exact amount of metal keys produced is unknown but it is assumed that six to twelve exist, and this is one of those. This crab lock was used in the film and can be seen on the chest when Jack Sparrow inserts the key. This exact crab lock was not only employed on one of the screen used chests, but it also represents the master unit for all the crab locks visible on the promotional chest seen at the various venues during the release of the film. This lock was the most difficult to recreate due to it’s complex undercuts and intricate details. Therefore, this crab lock was pulled off an original screen used chest and molded to save time. Along with a Hollywood History COA,and a custom display case; paperwork from Cool f/x will also be included documenting the history of these to fantastic piece from the pirates films.
