A Cloudy Sky Background used in the 1993 stop motion musical, The Nightmare Before Christmas. Produced by Tim Burton, this film tells the tale of the Pumpkin King, Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon and Danny Elfman), who has grown bored with the same old Halloween routine. When he stumbles upon Christmas Town and finds a world of cheer, he devises a plan to take over the role of Santa and spread his own version of joyful holiday terror.
This backdrop was used when a fog or hazy sky effect was needed in the background and light was also added at different times to give a moonlight effect shining through the sky. This painting can be seen when jack is walking about in his house, the intro of the movie when we see the skyline of Halloween town, and when the camera shows the exterior of Jack’s house. Different methods were used during filming to make the sky appear different with colors and lighting. The painting has been crafted onto a 4′ x 4′ wood panel/frame and features minor wear from production use and age, including small scuffs to the paint.
