Monkeybone

Monkeybone Puppet

This is a Monkeybone puppet display from the 1999 comedy of the same name. Numerous puppets were used during the filming; this particular one can be seen as Stu Miley (Brendan Fraser) Monkeybone creator, is being persuaded by his agent, holding the doll, to give license for creating various Monkeybone products. The puppet has been created featuring orange and white cotton material with a wire skeletal structure on the interior, allowing for arms, legs, etc. to be bent/posed into various different positions. The puppet is dressed with a removable green and purple vest along with purple fez. The right leg also has a “Buzoom Toys” tag attached. The face/mouth is one piece attached to the plush head and has been crafted from hard rubber. Included with the piece is a custom made acrylic display stand with a plaque featuring the film title and production year: 1999. The puppet also includes a letter to Bonita DeCarlo (character development manager) presenting the doll as a gift and thanking her for work on the film from director Henry Selick and three producers (Chris Columbus, Michael Barnathan, and Mark Radcliffe). Together, the puppet and display measure 17” x 12” x 9” (43cm x 31cm x 23cm) and are in very good condition.
