From the 2007 swashbuckling adventure sequel, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest this is the special effects pumping version of Davy Jones’ (Bill Nighy) heart. After rescuing Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) from Davy Jones’ locker, the crew of the Black Pearl must make a final stand against Jones and the Flying Dutchman. Serving as the central plot of Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End, Davy Jones’ heart is sought after by both Jack Sparrow and Lord Beckett as the owner of Davy Jones’ heart commands the Flying Dutchman. In the film, Davy Jones cut out his heart after betraying Calypso and kept the organ in the Dead Man’s Chest.
This version of Davy Jones’ heart was used for the scenes in which they needed the heart to appear alive and pumping and still has the clear tubing and hand pumps used to create the pumping effect when needed.
