This wand was used by the character Professor Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) in the fifth installment of the series, “Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix” (2007). Professor Dumbledore is the head master of Hogwarts and the founder of the secret organization “The Order of the Phoenix”. In the film, the Minister of Magic appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor who refuses to teach practical magic due to her belief that Dumbledore is forming a rebellion against the Ministry. This causes Ron and Hermione to aid Harry in forming a secret group to train students in defensive spells calling themselves “Dumbledore’s Army”. In the final parts of the film a duel between Voldemort and Dumbledore begins and Dumbledore overpowers him. Voldemort then possesses Harry in order to try and get Dumbledore to sacrifice Harry in the hope of killing him. The Ministry officials arrive before Voldemort disappears and admits that Voldemort has returned. Dumbledore returns as headmaster of Hogwarts and explains that he distanced himself from Harry all year hoping it would lessen the risk of Voldemort using their connection. Harry comes to terms with the prophecy; he or Voldemort are destined to kill the other in the end. In part 1 of the Deathly Hallows it is later learned that Harry envisions Voldemort learning that the Elder Wand lies with Dumbledore, and shortly after shows Voldemorte breaking into his tomb and stealing the Elder Wand.
